The Soul Star Chakra, Vyapini in Sanskrit, referred to as the ‘Seat of the Soul’, or “Universal Heart” is the first ‘transpersonal’ chakra. This chakra is associated with higher consciousness – your direct connection to your higher self – and the soul’s connection to the divine through the Akashic Records, karmic past, and past lives. Where is the Soul Star Chakra Located?
Like the Earth Star chakra, the Soul Star chakra is outside your physical body. It can be found above the head, located in your etheric body, approximately six inches above your crown chakra. Everyone’s energy field around the body is different, so the distance between the crown chakra and the Soul Star chakra can be between 6 inches and two feet.
What does the Soul Star Chakra Do?
The Soul Star chakra connects you with your spirit and higher self. It is known as the ‘seat of the soul’ because it is the point where divine love and spiritual energies enter the body. The Soul Star chakra relates to spirituality, compassion and divine wisdom. We work with this chakra when we want to connect the soul to the conscious mind, understanding our purpose and ourselves better.
Activating this chakra will be a potent balancing tool for all your other chakras. Because your soul star chakra is connected to your higher self, it is also connected to the light of the universe. This powerful energy can keep your crown chakra open and healthy along with your other chakras.

When open, divine light flows up through this chakra, connecting us to the infinite power of the Divine Light above before flowing back down to our entire being to replenish, empower and enlighten before flowing again. The Soul Star Chakra resonates with mostly white crystals.
Signs of Balance and Imbalance Within Soul Star Chakra
Signs of imbalance and balance aren’t always as clear when working with the non-physical chakras compared with the seven main chakras. They are often more subtle and may need some self-inspection and intuition to determine whether they are in or out of balance and what needs to be done to nourish and support them.
Signs of a balanced Soul Star chakra include enhanced spiritual wisdom, a more profound relationship with our higher self, heightened intuition and understanding beyond the conscious mind. You will also feel open to love, a connection with your purpose and more ease and harmony in your life.
If your Soul Star chakra is imbalanced, you may feel disembodied, disconnected from your soul purpose, spiritually closed-off or ‘lost’ in life without direction or inspiration.
Starting with the seven main chakras, from the root upwards, is essential. Healing only one chakra without paying attention to the others will not yield results.
Overactive Soul Star
The signs of an overactive soul star chakra are similar to those of an overactive crown chakra: we might be ungrounded, feeling disassociated from the earth, confused, spacey, lacking purpose, “blowing in the wind,” excessively daydreaming, unsettled, and directionless. In addition, we may have an obsession with spirituality and enlightenment. Physically, an overactive soul star can result in headaches and dizziness.
Weak Soul Star
A weak soul star chakra can manifest as a yearning without clarity or the ability to pinpoint a purpose or intention. Constant craving is a good way to describe this. We could feel sluggish or stuck. Emotionally a weakness can manifest as anxiety, cynicism, depression, and generalized mistrust. We may lack faith, both spiritually and in ourselves.
Tools to Balance and Connect with Your Soul Star Chakra
To connect to our soul star chakra we have to go through our higher self, the highest level of consciousness that’s accessible to us. In other words, we connect to our higher self to access our soul star. To receive clear guidance, the chakra must be balanced and clear and we must have and express a clear intention. There are a variety of methods for connecting with your soul star chakra. Here are some of my favourites to get you started.
Crystal Therapy
Certain crystals carry energies that can help us tap into our Soul Star chakra and help to bring balance and harmony to the areas of our lives it governs. Crystals also offer protective energies that can help to prevent us from being affected by the energies of others around us, which can be essential for physical and emotional healing. These crystals can be used individually or in combination to support the opening and alignment of the soul star chakra. Remember to cleanse your crystals and energise them with your intentions to maintain their optimal energetic properties.
- Kyanite: Kyanite will help gently cleanse and balance all of your chakras to ensure that your energetic body is in good shape. Kyanite also supports spiritual mastery, enhances intuition, and facilitates astral travel and lucid dreaming.
- Phenacite: This less common crystal is a powerful one for connecting with all of your upper chakras and especially your higher self. Because this stone is rare it tends to be a larger investment. The other more common gemstones listed below will also prove helpful and you may already have some.

- Celestite: Often associated with angelic realms, Celestite promotes divine communication, and spiritual enlightenment, and helps in accessing higher states of consciousness. Celestite is a great crystal for anxiety and stress too.
Essential Oils for the Soul Star Chakra
The following essential oils can be used to complement your meditation and cleansing processes whilst working with the Soul Star Chakra;
- Frankincense: Known for its spiritually uplifting properties, Frankincense helps deepen meditation, enhance spiritual connection, and open up channels of higher consciousness.

Specially guided Soul Star meditations can help you to connect with this chakra. Since the Soul Star chakra is intimately linked with our intuition, higher self, and potential psychic abilities, meditation can enable us to tap into this chakra’s beautiful benefits. A soul star meditation will be similar to a white light chakra meditation but with your intentions set on your soul star chakra. Here are steps to perform a simple self-guided meditation for your soul star chakra.
- Find a quiet place to sit and place some of the crystals mentioned above in each of your hands (the crystals are optional).
- Focus on your breathing and begin to imagine a white or golden light about six inches above your head. If you feel this ball of light wants to take on a specific colour, go with it.
- Imagine a beam of white light from the universe zooming down to meet your soul star chakra. Once the beam of light connects to your soul star chakra imagine it growing brighter with every breath.
- Ask to be connected to your soul star chakra. If you work with any guides or angels this is a good time to call on their support.
- If you feel called to, repeat the mantra “I am divine light” or “I am love” during the meditation.
- Once you feel connected to your soul star chakra imagine the light from it radiating to the rest of your chakras balancing them and restoring them.
- Close this meditation slowly and thoughtfully by imagining the white light slowly retreating to the universe. You can continue to envision your soul star chakra glowing above your head throughout your day.
Practice this meditation a few times, or until you feel comfortable, before asking to be shown information about your past lives or karmic history.
Reiki / Energy Healing
Reiki and energy healing can be beneficial for all the chakras but can particularly help with opening and balancing the chakras in the auric field, like the Soul Star chakra.
