The guitar has been pronounced dead more than once. And yet it persists โ in bedrooms, on stages, around fires, in the hands of teenagers and grandfathers and everyone in between. It is the most democratic of instruments and the most unforgiving.
Its survival is not a matter of fashion. The guitar offers something rare: an instrument simple enough to begin in an afternoon and deep enough to occupy a lifetime. Pick it up and it will tell you, immediately and honestly, what you have practised.
