For most of the last decade, web design competed for attention through addition: more animation, more colour, more dynamic content shifting on the page. The pendulum is returning. The most respected interfaces of the moment share a common discipline — they are quiet.
Quiet does not mean empty. It means considered. Generous spacing, clear typographic hierarchy, restrained palettes, and the courage to leave a page mostly blank so the one important thing can be seen. The lesson is old, but worth relearning every cycle.
